ANDERSON EMMANUEL is accustomed to all the hoopla. Shakera Reece is hoping she can do the same eventually.
Emmanuel and Reece, Barbados’ only medallists at the just concluded Pan Amercian Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, returned to Barbados Monday night for a red carpet welcome, where they were treated by relatives, and the island’s sports administrators for their outstanding performances on the international stage.
Emmanuel, who also won a bronze in heavyweight boxing at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, and Reece, who broke the national 100-metre record with her third place, both now have their eyes set on next year’s Olympics in London, England.
Here, Emmanuel (left) and Reece are all smiles as they show their medals.
