Holding firm

DESPITE?BATTLING?CONTINUED economic challenges, Barbados is holding its own in delivering a high quality of life to its people.
According to the 2011 United Nations (UN) Human Development Report released yesterday, the island remained among the leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Barbados has been placed in the “very high human development” category of the UN Human Development Index (HDI), which is contained in the report entitled Sustainability and Equity: A Better Future for All.
 It is the only regional country and one of only three from the wider Latin America and Caribbean with that distinction. (DP)
