LEADERS of the Interdominational Prayer Service are reporting that they have noticed a change in society since the first praying session on September 23.
Pastor of Restoration Ministries in Brittons Hill, St Michael, Senator Dr David Durant, said church members had noticed a reduction in murders, road accidents and other societal problems.
“Prior to September 23, there was a spate of robberies, accidents; and quite a number of things were happening one after the other,” Durant said, as he spoke to the SUNDAY SUN on Friday night at the New Testament Church of God headquarters in Fairchild Street, Bridgetown, where the service was held.
“Those are some of the reasons why we decided to come together and call upon God. After that, the country has been calm.”
Taking part in the monthly service are superintendents and bishops of New Testament Church of God, Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies, Church of the Nazarene, Wesleyan Holiness Church, United Holy Church of Americas, and several independent apostolic churches.
Durant said the organizers of the service, which will continue into the new year, planned to move to the gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex and then take 15 000 people to Kensington Oval where “we will have Jesus on show”.
“We want to see fewer activities in the area of violence and crimes. The [Commissioner of Police] said property robbery was on the increase. But we are praying that that be reduced considerably.
We are praying that God will move our island in a very significant way.
We believe that healing and transformation are going to come to Barbados.” (AH)
