Pebbles Beach was full of excited children frolicking in the waves yesterday; but among them was a very special group.
This group, made up of children with disabilities, was brought together by Variety The Children’s Charity (Barbados) for a day of fun, courtesy of Christian Surfers (Barbados).
And among them was Rasonté Parsons, a quadruple amputee, who lost parts of her limbs in 2003 to complications from sickle cell anaemia.
Now 11 years old, the brave girl was credited for the day being arranged in the first place.
“In Late May, I did a movie event at the Olympus [Theatres] where we watched Soul Surfer, a Christian movie about a girl who continued to surf after losing an arm to a shark attack, and a lot of these kids [from Variety] were there. Afterwards, a little girl said she always wanted to surf . . . [so I arranged this],” said Christian Surfers leader Melanie Pitcher.
