Dear Christine,
I am writing this letter to you with the hope that those who ill-treat their parents will stop doing so and love them instead.
It’s not that I have ever mistreated mine. Rather, I have listened to their words of wisdom and continue to heed the advice given to me as a child.
I am now a grown woman and I thank God for my parents, who are still alive, and are godly parents.
It bothers me when some children take their parents for granted and do not take the time to let them know how much they love and respect them.
Nothing can replace a mother’s or father’s love and I hope that young people would know how much their parents strive to make life better for them.
I am aware that all parents are not alike – not all are nice – but we must still honour them because that is what God commands us to do.
To all mothers and fathers out there, I want to encourage you not to become discouraged, especially when your children do not return the love and respect you show them.
Continue to love them, no matter what happens and, children, take time to love your parents and to let them know that you care.
– Hyacinth
Dear Hyacinth,
I bless God for you and for sharing this letter with readers.
It is true that parents sometimes hurt because of their children’s lack of love and respect, but I hope that your letter will open the eyes of those who do not fully understand a parent’s love.
– CHRISTINE
