VETERAN CALYPSO BARD and nine-time king Gabby (right) showed yesterday why he is regarded as a true master of musical art forms – whether it be kaiso, soca, folk, songwriting or simply improvising.
He not only put NBC personality Matt Lauer (centre) and celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis at ease on Sandy Lane Beach during the Barbados segment of Where In The World Is Matt Lauer? But he immediately made up a song about Matt, strumming on his guitar and displaying his “picong” skills to millions of television viewers of The Today Show.
The NBC hosts were overwhelmed, saying lightheartedly that it seemed as if the show might have another theme song in Gabby’s ditty. (RJ)
