Windies Masters after whitewash

The West Indies are back to their winning ways – at least the Masters, that is.
Starved for international success by the regional West Indies team in recent years, cricket fans have been thrilled by two clinical performances from the Carl Hooper-led West Indies Masters in the ongoing CLOBI Challenge 2011 in Barbados.
Having assumed an unassailable 2-0 advantage over their English rivals in the T20 clash, the home team will be going all out in the final match at Kensington Oval tonight to secure another famous ‘whitewash’ over the Mother Country.
The likes of Gordon Greenidge, Collis King, Curtly Ambrose, Floyd Reifer and Kenny Benjamin will want to inflict another defeat on the Brits to wrest the series 3-0.
“We’re definitely looking to wrap this up with a clean sweep,” declared Hooper.
“Yes, we’ve won the series already – thanks to some good performances from the guys – but we’re not going to get complacent now and give the English any opportunity to beat us tonight.
“The crowds have been fantastic for the first two matches and we hope that we’ll get an even bigger turnout tomorrow. It’s the last match and we want to end the tournament in style.”
His opposite number, Paul Nixon, believes that, despite the disappointment of the first two games and having lost the series, England can bounce back and deny the West Indies a sweep.
“We want to leave the Caribbean with at least one win and we’ll certainly take some pride from being able to thwart the West Indies from sweeping the series, if we can beat them tonight,” said Nixon. (BA/PR)
