This Christmas, Barbadians should not be lacking the variety of Bajan delicacies that include sweet potato in their preparations.
Yesterday, dozens of residents, including hawkers, flocked to the Lears, St Michael sweet potato fieldĀ  and reaped the tuber.
Some of them told the MIDWEEK NATION they would be selling some of the ground provision while others said they would be using it to make dishes such as candied sweet potato and sweet potato pie.
Ann Greene said she was able to get ā€œa rodā€ of the sweet potato for her personal use for $10. She said this was one sure way for her to save money.
ā€œWhen you go to the supermarket or the market and you buy two pounds of sweet potatoes, you pay anywhere between $8 and $12 for it ā€“ but you can get a bag of potatoes, a rod, for $10,ā€ she said. (MM)
