Airlift challenge

AIRFARE is one of the major challenges facing the regional tourism industry.
That’s the view of former president of the Caribbean Hotel &?Tourism Association (CHTA), Berthia Parle, who spent a few days in Barbados last week promoting St Lucia’s Bay Gardens Hotel that she manages as a destination.
“One of the major challenges for the regional tourism industry continues to be the issue of affordability of airlift. That continues to plague us.
“What we have seen a company like Bay Gardens Resort that depends so much on the regional market, we have seen a double digit decrease in arrivals to St Lucia and actually to Bay Gardens Resort, and it is directly a result of the impact of increase in airfares. (MK)
