RIHANNA will be ringing in the New Year in Barbados, performing at a private concert for an audience that is expected to include music mogul Simon Cowell.
The Daily Star newspaper is reporting that the singer will headline the VIP gig on New Year’s Eve for Britain’s Global Radio boss Ashley Tabor at the luxurious Sandy Lane hotel. Boy band The Wanted is also expected to perform at the event, according to the report.
Rihanna’s return to Barbados will come four months after her LOUD concert at the Kensington Oval, for which a source told the newspaper she was paid around $3.9 million.
Local officials had never revealed what the star was paid for her hometown performance. When contacted yesterday, Adrian Elcock, chairman of the Barbados Tourism Authority, with which Rihanna has inked a three-year deal, declined to say whether the Daily Star report was accurate.
“I can’t and won’t confirm that,” he said.
