CXC: No rift with teachers

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) says it is not involved in any dispute with the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU).
In a Press release signed by Assistant Registrar (Public Information and Customer Services) Cleveland Sam, the Council stated: “CXC is in no dispute with the BSTU, contrary to reports in the media. The purported issue is an examination administration matter which has been dealt with by CXC and the Ministry of Education in Barbados according to the regulations.”
Sam said all CXC regulations were applied to every candidate sitting its examinations in all 19 territories in which the tests were offered in order to ensure the integrity of the examinations remained intact.
The problem reportedly began after Christ Church Foundation did not submit a sample of five Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) School-Based Assessments (SBA) to CXC in the allotted time.
