FORMER BARBADOS VOLLEYBALL captain Elwyn Oxley has been charged with indecently assaulting a teenage girl last month.
The 40-year-old resident of No. 52 Deacons Court, Deacons, St Michael, appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday where Magistrate Douglas Frederick granted him $5 000 bail with one surety.
Although not objecting to bail, prosecutor Sergeant Junior Kirton asked that Oxley be warned not to interfere with the complainant.
It is alleged that Oxley committed the offence against the 17-year-old at his residence on November 13.
He is represented by attorney Kristin Edwards.
Oxley, who was Barbados’ longest serving volleyball captain and is considered one of the island’s most decorated volleyballers, will reappear in court on May 21. (DP)
