There will be Christmas lights after all at the Robinson’s home in Warrens, St Michael.
Ronald Robinson, who said tough financial times was forcing him to pull the plug on the customary display of lights at this home for the first time in ten years said that at this 11th hour – exactly a week before Christmas, some help is on the way.
Just yesterday the businessman said because of the rough year in construction, he was unable to solely undertake the putting up of lights this time around.
At minutes to 9 this morning, Robinson said Best of Barbados Gift Shop came forward as a sponsor to help finance the lights project.
Shortly after, Robinson, who was happy for the help, said he informed his team of the good news.
“I told them to get the lift out and let’s get to work,” he said.
Robinson assured that his home will be all aglow with the lights from Friday night, two days before the big day.
“I will be packing one month of work into one week. I love a challenge. This will be done. I will work through the sun and rain, from early morning until late night to make sure this happens,” he said, noting he would be bringing in some extra help.
Robinson said the lights will be on from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. since they are starting three weeks later than the norm.
“I am so happy I can start. I couldn’t do it alone this year. With this help I am going at it,” he said.
“There is nothing like seeing the faces of the children and the old people when they are looking at the lights,” he added.
Robinson said that for the last two years he had pulled his own pocket and spent between $25 000 and $30 000 on the colourful spectacle that lure many to his home at #41 Warrens Heights.
He said these were tough times adding he was trying to keep his own company going and could not manage the lights on his own.
