Simmons parting ways with NCF

CORPORATE COMMUNICATION specialist at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), Wayne Simmons, vacates that post on January 6.
Simmons, who is on holiday, told the SATURDAY?SUN on Thursday that he was leaving to focus on family business Live Sound entertainment.
His son Jason recently graduated with a diploma in sound engineering and DJ arts from Trebas Institute in Toronto, Canada, and Simmons said he would be giving him full support.
Twenty years ago Simmons completed a diploma in sound engineering and artist management at Trebas in Montreal, Canada.
He first joined the NCF as business development officer for music in 1994. He took a year’s break in 2007 and rejoined in his current position in 2008.
Simmons said that his parting with the NCF was amicable and he had no issues with anyone at the West Terrace, St James institution.
“The NCF has been wonderful to me . . . .I definitely got an appreciation for the arts from the NCF and moreover I formed some good relationships both with the artistes and then with the people I had to work with, including the media.
“It was a tremendous experience for me, and I have a greater appreciation for the arts and the people in the arts,” he said. (YB)
