Music lovers will be in for a treat on Friday, December 30, in the Frank Collymore Hall when international recording artiste Hal Linton and a group of young, talented local musicians will be getting Unplugged/Up Close with fans.
Musician Miguel White, who is part of the line-up, said the idea was to get up close and personal with the audience.
“I came up with the concept and called Hal [Linton],while Exclusive Entertainment put it together.
“We want to make it intimate; some may have seen us on stage but now we want to make the audience a part of the show,” he said.
White hesitated at calling the show an acoustic one, as he said that sometimes had negative connotations.
“Some people see acoustics as boring but it will not be; it will be a one-on-one show with the artistes. There will also be a meet and greet afterwards and surprise celebrity appearances,” he said.
The event was launched yesterday at Divi Southwinds. Linton said he thought the idea was a great one and was interested in expanding it further.
“This is something we want to become a brand as we want to one day have an Edwin Yearwood unplugged or a Gabby unplugged.
“It’s music we all know in a new light, something which Caribbean people have not experienced much of but is the norm in the rest of the world. We are hoping people experience a great show and walk away with the brand in their minds,” he said.
The other performers are Simon Pipe and Niki Nicole. Nicole said the show would help to get her name become more known and, as the Barbadian audience was one of the toughest to break through, she was grateful for the opportunity.
