While most of the polling stations in Central Kingston and East Kingston and Port Royal opened at 7 this morning for voting in Jamaica’s 2011 general election, voters were few in numbers. At the Dunoon Technical High School fewer than 20 persons were at the institution preparing to cast their ballots. There was a strong security presence at Vauxhall High where a handfull of voters were queuing to vote. When The Gleaner News Team visited Kingston Technical at least one voter complained that her name was not on the voters list despite being enumerated and presenting her voter ID card. In West Kingston, voters turned out in their numbers clad in their green party colours. However, at all the areas we visited the police report that there were no violent incidents. (Jamaica Gleaner)
