There will be a free lunchtime jazz concert at the Frank Collymore Hall today from 12:15 p.m.
Blowing In The Windies will be performed by the visiting Jazz Australia Workshop Big Jazz Band, who have visited annually for several years.
The concert follows a performance for guests of the Coconut Court Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church on New Year’s Day.
The music school, located in Sydney, is on a three-week tour.
This year, the 19-piece ensemble is comprised of Australian students and two brothers from New Zealand.
The band has already played at The Beach House on Old Year’s Night and the New Year’s Day show at The Deck Restaurant at Coconut Court Hotel.
It was founded by Saul Richardson, an accomplished musician who studied jazz guitar and conducting. He is an internationally recognized jazz educator and has directed several “big bands” in Australia.
He has also served for two years on the executive board of the International Association for Jazz Education. (PR)
