Monday morning traffic blues are about to enter another phase in the Warrens, St Michael area.
Minister of Transport and Works John Boyce explained that the second phase of the traffic redevelopment plan for the Warrens commercial area will start this week.
Traffic congestion has been a source of annoyance for motorists, with heavy criticism from the public on call-in programmes and in news articles.
He was touring the area on Saturday with the ministry’s chief technical officer Frank Thornhill and Dawood Pandor, principal consultant of Professional Engineering Services Limited, the company responsible for making the physical changes to roundabouts, driving lanes and sidewalks.
The ministry, Boyce explained, was planning to embark on an education programme to inform motorists on the correct way to use the roundabout and nearby one-way traffic system through Warrens and onto Green Hill.
Eventually the one-way system is expected to greatly reduce congestion in the heavily commercialized Warrens area.
