Police seized more than 1 000 cannabis plants following a joint operation yesterday.
Public relations officer InspectorDavidWelch said the drug squad, along with members of the Barbados Defence Force and the Regional Security Services, went into several areas around Barbados.
“The operations took place in Woodland and The Mount in St George; Welches and Cherry Grove, St John and Sterling, St Philip. At the conclusion of the operations, 1 382 plants were seized with the majority being seized at Woodland,” he said.
Welch said there was an upsurge in the drug cultivation which may be due to the “strong enforcement measures” being taken against drug importation via sea. (CA)
