Senior members of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) are now meeting at the party’s headquarters to conduct a review of its loss at the December 29 general election.
“All the candidates will make a presentation and then I will make a presentation and then we will discuss it at this level,” JLP chairman, Mike Henry told The Gleaner a short while ago. “I will give a brief report about what happened and that’s basically it,” added Karl Samuda who chaired the party’s campaign team. But even as the senior members discuss the reasons for the 42-21 loss, diehard labourites gathered at Belmont Road had their own explanation. They argued that the party was not ready for the Dec 29 polls as many of the candidates were not in contact with voters and the arrogance of some ministers hurt the party.
