Children first!

Vowing that the children of Alexandra will not be short-changed, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart says he plans to bring a swift end to the raging teaching impasse, making decisions “without fear or favour”.
Stuart described The Alexandra School dispute as “unfortunate”, saying the issue, which has engulfed the entire country over the last two weeks, had dragged on for much too long.
The dispute was topic A yesterday morning at a service of thanksgiving in honour of Barbados’ first Prime Minister and National Hero Errol Barrow at St Lucy’s Parish Church.
Before a standing room only congregation, which included Cabinet ministers – among them Member of Parliament for St Lucy Denis Kellman, former MP?Evelyn Greaves, members of the Senate, and Alexandra School principal Jeff Broomes – the man at the centre of the storm, Stuart said it was the children who were suffering.
