PRIME MINISTER FREUNDEL STUART made his first visible peace-brokering move in the Alexandra School impasse yesterday.
It was an eventful Day 13 of the strike at the school, with Stuart summoning a delegation from the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) to a meeting at his Ilaro Court residence; old scholars of the St Peter school calling for the removal of principal Jeff Broomes; and “Prayer Warriors” making intercessions at the school.
President of the BSTU, Mary Redman, who said the union got a call late yesterday afternoon, was mum on the nature of those discussions with the Prime Minister except to say that they were “very, very productive”.
She was part of a 13-member BSTU delegation including general secretary Mona Robinson, former general secretary Patrick Frost, first vice-president Erskine Padmore, public relations officer Amaida Greaves, attorney Hal Gollop and staff of Alexandra school.
