Grotto by May

The reopening of the Grotto will provide an additional market for farmers, says James Paul.
Speaking to the DAILY NATION after a service at St Barnabas Anglican Church yesterday, the chief executive officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) said that once the financing was in place, he expected the store at Beckles Road, St Michael, to be open by May.
Paul was responding to queries about the availability of markets for local farmers, who complain about not being able to sell their crops because of a flood of imported produce.
Aware of the frustration of farmers, Paul said the BAS has been trying to give local crops more prominence through advertising and the encouraging of consumers to purchase them.
