A YOUNG MAN who allegedly indecently assaulted five schoolgirls as they were on their way to or from school was remanded when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Pedro Alphonzo Burgess, 25, of Baycroft New Road, Bridge Road, St Michael, was not required to plead to indecently assaulting a 16-year-old schoolgirl and an 18-year-old girl, both on February 7; indecently assaulting a 14-year-old girl on February 9, and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl as well as a 16-year-old girl on February 15.
Prosecutor Sergeant Peter Barrow, who objected to Burgess being released, pointed to the nature of the offences and their seriousness.
“These offences that are before the court are offences that are of concern to the public because of the ages of the persons against whom the offences allegedly occurred,” the prosecutor submitted.
