The district of Vauxhall, Christ Church was engulfed with billowing smoke for over three hours this evening as over 200 acres of grass and bush burnt, threatening nearby houses.
One fire tender from Bridgetown battled the blaze as residents also came out with garden hoses to hold off the flames which hungrily devoured the dry shrubs and grass.
The fire officers were able to keep the fire away from the homes. (KB)
