BARBADOS fast bowler Tino Best is back in the West Indies squad.
The 30-year-old, who last played for the regional team in the 2009 Champions Trophy, has been named in a 13-member squad for the first three Digicel One-Day Internationals against Australia.
Chairman of selectors Clyde Butts attributed Best’s recall to his consistency in recent times.
“We think that over the past year he has been working very hard and bowling very well in regional cricket,” Butts told reporters during a press conference at Kensington Oval on Tuesday afternoon.
“Ravi Rampaul is unavailable. He [Best] fits that position. He’s shown us on the field that he wants to play for West Indies.”
The first three One-Day Internationals against Australia will be played on March 16, 18 and 20 at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground in St Vincent.
SQUAD: Darren Sammy (captain), Denesh Ramdin (vice-captain), Tino Best, Devendra Bishoo, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Johnson Charles, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Kieran Powell, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels. (HG)
