A Government senator today is claiming that free bus transportation for school children would be in jeopardy should the Barbados Labour Party hold the reins of Government again.
“I honestly believe they would get rid of it. They have always criticised it,” Irene Sandiford-Garner told the Upper House.
Sandiford-Garner, also the Parliamentary Secretary with responsibility for the Ministry of Health, made the claim during debate on the 2012 Appropriations Bill.
“I can’t understand in any context, why the Barbados Labour Party continues to criticise things like free bus fares and summer camps for the children of Barbados. I’m convinced that if the people of Barbados were to give the Barbados Labour Party the Government again, they would remove free bus fares,” Sandiford-Garner said.
The senator noted that it was such people issues that continue to convince her that the BLP really is not interested in improving the lot of Barbadians as they claim. (BA)
