Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” – Luke 8:48 (NIV)
It is the yearning for healing of health challenges that always beckons us to humbly approach the throne of grace when we are seeking divine guidance.
When I had that experience of healing through committed faith and silent doctors, I was overjoyed.
Faith is a process and we must know how to hold on until the process is complete. What goes hand-in-hand with faith and healing is silent doctors.
The Creator informed us in Revelations that “the leaves of the trees are for the healing of nations.”
As we continue to uncover the conscious and true healing potential of silent doctors, [we must] avoid being confused: should silent doctors which were bestowed on us by the Creator be said to interfere with conventional drugs, or do conventional drugs interact negatively with ancient silent doctors?
Study the process. Today, we will focus on what I call the ”centenarians’ food” known in Barbados as yam. In some countries, yams are considered to be “super foods for women”.
Yams are members of the Dioscoreaceae family and are still important in African culture. They contain carbohydrates, protein, dietary fibre, vitamins B1, 2, 3 and 6, vitamins C and K, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc.
Dr of Naturopathy Michael Murray with Pizzorno and Pizzorno (2006) in their book The Condensed Encyclopedia Of Healing Foods posit that “Yams contain a unique phytoestrogen called diosgenin that is used as a starting material for the synthesis of the hormones estrogen and progesterone by drug manufacturers”.
Research also points to the vitamin B6 and other B vitamins plus folic acid found in yams to be good for detoxifying excess estrogen in the system.
Yams can assist with depression due to premenstrual syndrome. They can treat, prevent or heal health challenges of the nervous, urinary and respiratory systems, alleviate nausea during pregnancy, maintain positive blood sugar levels and body weight, restore depleted energy levels, protect against cardiovascular disease and strokes, assist is controlling High blood pressure or hypertension, decrease water retention, and protect the immune system with their antioxidant content.
In the March 23 WEEKEND NATION, in an article titled The Secret Of The Centenarians, it was noted that one of the three factors which centenarians attributed to their longevity is “a diet rooted in ground provisions”.
Therefore “Go to the ant, thou sluggard, consider her ways, and be wise.” – Proverbs 6:6.
