It was a fashion parade of a different sort when the members of Westmoreland Church of the Nazarene held a Back In Time service last Sunday. Some turned up attired in gloves, fish-net stockings, ribbons, shoes and socks, short pants (for the males) and of course, in some of the most exotic hats as worn in days gone by.
Not only did hey go back in time with the fashion sported throughout the church, some of the older members shared with the younger folk what going to church meant back then – no jewelery, no make-up, the wearing of long skirts with three-tiered flounces, long-sleeves – and of course – hats for the ladies, and caps for the men.
At the end of the Sunday worship, sugar cakes, nut cakes, sweetbread, mauby and various other delicacies were served – just as in days of old. It was a truly wonderful time.
