Seven days before the start of the final school term before summer recess, president of the Barbados Secondary School Teachers Union (BSTU) Mary Redman is staying close to the phone.
She’s expecting a call from Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to have the impasse at the Alexandra School settled.
“We haven’t met since the end of the last term, but I’m very expectant about hearing from him [Stuart] before the next term starts,” Redman told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday.
“The union strongly believes that once the matter is concluded by the Prime Minister, only then could we have what would be considered a normal start to the next term.”
Last term may have been the most difficult in the St Peter school’s history, said Redman.
