‘Get back to family values’

BARBADOS IS UNDER attack from cultural and ethnic forces which are putting the traditional Barbadian way of life in danger.
This is the view of Minister responsible for Ecclesiastical Affairs Stephen Lashley, who warned yesterday that these subtle and open attacks were bombarding almost every aspect of life Barbadians had known and enjoyed as a people.   
“Over the years our society has been bombarded, almost all at once, by an array of new technological, cultural and ethnical forces which have substantially altered our way of living.
“Consequently, the Barbadian way of life has given way to foreign lifestyles which militate against the traditional values we held, such as being our brother’s keeper,” he told those gathered at yesterday’s Religious Summit with the theme The Role and Responsibility of Religion in Barbados: An Examination of the Issues confronting Us as a Nation, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
