People around the courts are urging the Commissioner of Police and his officers to ensure justice for a poor St Michael woman by simply doing their jobs.
Cou Cou has learnt that the elderly woman was allegedly raped by a man who lives in her neighbourhood nearly five years ago. However when they go to court they are being told that the file cannot be found and the case keeps getting put back.
Now, after all these years of adjournment the presiding judge said that if the file is not found by the sitting next month the case will be dismissed.
Those in the know said that the matter has to be disposed of in this way because it just can’t be allowed to keep coming up like a recurring decimal. So their anger is directed at the police who can’t seem to get their act together and do their job.
All the while her alleged attacker continues to walk the neighbourhood.
Under pressure
Could another Trinidad-owned business be buckling under economic pressure?
Word is that sales within this well known Barbadian brand have fallen off sharply since Government implemented a cost-saving measure that has led to fewer people patronizing this business.
Employees, who have noticed the fall-off in customers, now fear that so as to save the business money they will also feel the boot like the workers at Almond Village.
Everything jinxed
A certain politico is wondering why the second event they have hosted in a particular district has been disrupted.
And they are beginning to wonder if these incidents may not be coincidental and some sort of sabotage may be taking place.
In the recent incident, a well attended event was brought to a sudden halt when the water in the district went off. A call was made to the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) and the official said the authority was not aware of any burst mains or any other work going on in the area to cause a problem there.
A drive around in the area also revealed that no work was ongoing by any BWA workers. The water never came back on until the next day.
During the previous event in the same district, someone passed and a noise very similar to a gunshot rang out scattering the gathering.
Fool’s paradise
A particular politician’s fortunes seem to be on the wane.
The individual held a constituency meeting a few Sunday’s ago and, believe it or not, only six constituents attended.
From what Cou Cou was told there is some disillusionment with the individual as they have not been able to deliver jobs or many of the sweets the party promised since being given the nod back in January 2008.
When told about this occurrence, a man close to the politico explained that the meeting, though a monthly affair, was not publicized and that accounted for the poor turnout.
However, those in the know say that if this man and the politico want to live in a fool’s paradise on their waning popularity they can do so.
Future in doubt
Big debts and rampant politics are said to be strangling the future of a notable event.
Reports are that people are seeing brown over the manner in which the event, which was recently held, was being organized and how those selected to handle aspects of it are being chosen.
Cou Cou understands that because of the infusion of so much politics, a number of long-standing volunteers are taking off and leaving everything to these people.
