Banfield bags Senior Games crown

CHRIS BANFIELD has captured the open title in the table tennis competition of the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development’s Senior Games for the second consecutive year.
   Banfield toppled Wilmont “Funk” Goddard 11-6, 9-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-2 in the final to win the prestigious title when the tournament ended at the Table Tennis Centre, Nursery Drive, last week.
   It has been another superb season for the evergreen Banfield who remains unbeaten in the domestic league, where his team, Sports & Games Spinners, leads the Division 1 club championship.
   Banfield earned his spot in the final after beating Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic in the semifinal 9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-7. In the other semifinal Goddard beat Charles Lovell 2-11, 11-9, 4-11, 11-7, 11-7.
