The eighth annual Digicel Reggae Festival got off to a rocking start last night.
Five thousand plus patrons converged on Brandons Beach for the first of four events – the Reggae Beach Party.
While those on the inside could be seen dancing to the latest hits of Bajan singers like Crimeson and Fari, thousands more were outside waiting to make their way in.
Just after 7 p.m. Jamaican singer Baby Cham (at right), one of three headliners, made his way to the stage much to the delight of those inside.
He hyped the crowd into a frenzy, setting the mood for his countrymen Popcaan and Mr Vegas who would follow.
Security personnel said they were forced to set up barricades at the entrance when a swelling crowd began to push its way into the venue. This also caused them to stop entry to the show around 9 p.m, leaving many ticket-holding patrons outside.
