13 items for House debate today

THIRTEEN ITEMS are on the Order Paper for debate today as the House of Assembly resumes sittings after its Easter recess.
Among expected priorities will be two new industrial relations bills, namely the Holidays With Pay Bill and the Employment Rights Bill, bothof which are in the name of Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo.
The other items are: resolutions under the Minister of Housing to compulsorily acquire land at Sam Lord’s Castle and Parish Land in St Philip; the Prevention of Corruption Bill 2010, the Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill 2011, a resolution to approve the draft Electoral and Boundaries Order, the National Petroleum Corporation (Amendment) Bill, a resolution to approve the guarantee by Government of a $17 million loan from the National Insurance Board by the Barbados Tourism Authority, and a resolution to approve Protocol 6 of the Social Partnership.
Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler is also down to introduce the Profession, Trade and Business Registration (Validation) Bill, 2012, and two Land Tax (Amendment) bills. (RJ)
