Barbados may, in about two weeks’ time, get the long-awaited word from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) that it has approved the US$50 million loan for the Four Seasons project.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart didn’t comment afterwards on his talks in Washington with IDB president Luis Moreno, saying only that the discussions went well and he was satisfied with the outcome.
But a highly-placed official told the SATURDAY?SUN Stuart was informed during the 30-minute meeting that the application would be presented to the IDB board “sometime during the first two weeks of May” and it should be approved.
“There is a consensus within the bank that Barbados should be assisted on this project and that word was passed to the Prime Minister,” a knowledgeable source said.
