HEALING HERBS: Silent docs need common names

Nature is an authentic educational gateway and if we observe and listen to Mother Earth, we will become excellent students.
My gateway to the information I share with readers about silent doctors is unique. As I am of African descent with an abundance of melanin, while I search through nature to learn, it becomes a very blessed experience.
This month the Creator wishes to assist us in overcoming some of the challenges pertaining to silent doctors. The first is, breaking down silent doctor barriers throughout neighbouring islands.
One of the greatest challenges is calling silent doctors by the same name throughout CARICOM. While furthering my research as an herbal educator throughout villages in Barbados and neighbouring islands, most respondents are at a loss when we discuss names of silent doctors.
I would suggest that as we advance the cause of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, we also work towards a common name for our silent doctors. Silent doctors carry splendid economic and medicinal value right here in the Caribbean.
I understand the views advanced for the cultural preservation of territorial names and the cultural pleasures of travelling to other islands and learning indigenous names of silent doctors. The indigenous names must be maintained.
However, for academic, international and psychological purposes we must try to see the wisdom of such an intelligent move. In the prescription medicine category a “Panadol” is easily identified throughout the world by a common name and image, whether in English, Spanish or French. This removes the burden of identification or perceived poisoning if we become ill while travelling.
When I speak to my neighbours in the Caribbean, common names for silent doctors would indeed remove some of the psychogical fear that was injected even during the period of enslavement.
Interviewing non-nationals for research or healing would be easier, since we would not have to go in search of the herb to see if we are speaking about the same thing. A simple universal name would remove any doubt.
