No PHD cuts

Despite the $603 000 half-year loss registered by Pine Hill Dairy (PHD), the chairman says it will not turn to more job cuts as a response to the challenges the company is facing.
Sir Allan Fields was responding yesterday to the unaudited six-month results of Barbados Dairy Industries Limited,which trades as PHD.
After more than a year of restructuring and retooling, Sir Allan said PHD’s efforts would now be focused on stepped up marketing, the introduction of a range of new flavours in juices and milk products, as well as increased exports.
In its financials for the six months ended February 29, PHD recorded a $1.94 million jump in sales over the corresponding period last year. The Banks Holdings Limited (BHL) subsidiary also managed to cut its losses from $3.33 million for the same period last year. (GE)
