Tense primary battle

It’s that time of the year again.
Yesterday saw the start of this year’s Bico Primary Schools Football and Pine Hill Dairy Netball Competitions.
After the opening ceremony, which took place at the National Stadium, it was time for action on both the field and the court.
And defending champions from both competitions found the going rough as they suffered defeats on the opening day.
Last year’s football champions Cuthbert Moore were defeated by George Lamming 1-0 in their quest for the Reginald Haynes Football Cup, while netball queens Charles F. Broome went down to Belmont Primary.
They didn’t go down without a fight though, as here Brianna Holder (centre) is sandwiched by two Belmont Primary players, Sheriza Griffith (left) and Tashena Robinson (partly hidden) as she tries to gather the ball
