IMMIGRATION?OFFICERS at Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) are peeved that they now have to undergo the same screening as passengers, while Customs officers remain exempt from newly enforced security searches and checks.
The angry workers have called in the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) and are threatening strike action unless their situation is remedied.  
They are hopping mad that unlike their colleagues in Customs, they can no longer carry liquids, including drinks, past screening points and that they are being subjected to greater security scrutiny.
“They are trying to make us get scanned now and want to stop us from bringing any liquids to work with us, but not customs [officers],” said one upset Immigration employee, who also described the situation as “unfair”.
