Almond workers to get paid

COME May 24, the hundreds of severed employees of Almond Beach Village will start to receive monies due to them now that the hotel has officially closed its doors.
Yesterday several workers congregated at the Heywoods, St Peter resort to collect letters informing them about the dates of their payments.
According to the correspondence, they will receive accrued vacation (if applicable), payment in lieu of notice and holiday pay on May 24. They will receive severance and ex gratia payments on July 15 and retroactive payment on August 31.
The workers also received a second letter which advised that the company would still offer support to severed staff through its Employee Support Syllabus, which will provide training programmes in a variety of areas to assist the former staff during their transition.
