Calderon to push region’s agenda

President of Mexico Felipe Calderon yesterday assured members of CARICOM that the region will have a clear voice when his country hosts the G20 Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico next month.
Last week Prime Minister Freundel Stuart had noted the Central American financial and political powerhouse would be in a perfect position as chair of the G20 Summit to articulate the issues, political, economical and environmental, facing Caribbean countries in the midst of the current recession.
Yesterday Calderon made it clear that Mexico has the Caribbean’s back.
Speaking during the official opening ceremony of the Mexico-CARICOM Summit at Hilton Barbados, Calderon also stated his country’s intention to assist in the redevelopment of Haiti, in the aftermath of an earthquake which decimated the country in 2010.
