Carmon part of Wonder tribute

One of the most versatile and in demand musicians, Tim Carmon, will be performing at the upcoming CIBC First Caribbean Sugar Isle Jazz Festival.
This son of a preacher was born in Washington, DC, and was playing piano from the age of nine. Carmon, who was heavily influenced by the gospel music around him, having come from a highly spiritual, large family of musicians, was the organist of three different churches in his hometown by 12 years old.
While growing up in DC he captured the imagination of several musicians passing through the Washington area, but eventually felt the need to spread his wings, and now calls Los Angeles home.
Camron has performed, toured with, written and produced for some of the biggest names in the music business, including Paul McCartney, Queen Latifa, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Gladys Knight, Earth Wind & Fire, Herbie Hancock, Mary J. Blige, David Sanbourn and the man that he will be paying tribute to in Barbados on June 3, Stevie Wonder, to name a few.
As evidenced by the variety of styles and genres of these artists, his versatility and musicianship have lead him to be in high demand.
Camron’s arrangements and playing could also be heard in the major motion picture Dreamgirls and in the 50-year-old revision of Lady Sings The Blues, an autobiography of Billie Holiday.
Camron loves heavy rich harmonies and imaginative lush chord progressions and will share some of his magic at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on June 3 at 8 p.m., when he performs as part of an international all-star band that will pay tribute to Stevie Wonder’s music.
