Kellman: Dig deep

Bargains, new products and a festive atmosphere drew hundreds to the annual Barbados Manufacturers’ Exhibition (BMEX) today, as Minister of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development Denis Kellman called on manufacturers to dig deep for even newer ideas.
Speaking at BMEX’s breakfast meeting for buyers and manufacturers at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Kellman said local manufacturers were constantly being called upon to come up with creative and innovative ways to offset and mitigate the impact of the economic crisis and world trade challenges, but events like this one provided opportunities for success.
“We need to dig deep and come up with creative ways to diversify our practices and methods in order to survive . . . . Now is the time for manufacturers to explore niches in overseas markets and penetrate, for in so doing the ability to maintain a competitive edge will be made easier,” he said.
