VIRGIN ATLANTIC will celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a massive street party in St Lawrence Gap on June 3.
The airline will transform The Gap into a major street party offering all the fun and excitement of the traditional British street parties taking place in Britain that same day.
Sales and marketing manager Rachel Pilgrim told a Press briefing, at Champers Restaurant in Rockley, Christ Church, that the party would be the biggest event Virgin Atlantic would host in Barbados this year.
“It’s an event for the entire family and all Barbadians are welcome to come and enjoy the festivities with us.
“This summer is going to be the most exciting ever. The Olympics is the big thing but there is also Wimbledon, the Chelsea Flower Show, the Shakespeare Festival, Test cricket and, of course, Notting Hill Carnival. The Queen’s [Diamond] Jubilee celebrations are part of an amazing summer and we are delighted to be part of it,” she said.
Pilgrim added the street party was Virgin’s way of bringing some of the excitement to Barbados for both Barbadians and British tourists who would miss out. (MK)
