Mackeson Brittons Hill edged two points closer to second-placed Barbados Defence Force (BDF) with an easy 2-0 victory over KDJ Auto/Gatorade Dayrells Road on Monday night when Digicel Premier League action continued at the National Stadium.
In the earlier game, Direct TV Paradise did just enough to defeat Bagatelle 1-0, thanks to a 63rd minute strike by front man Kadeem Latham.
Brittons Hill were in command from the start but were guilty of missing relatively easy chances, with forwards Hendy Richards and Travis Coppin being the major culprits.
They finally took the lead in the 38th minute. Richards was the beneficiary of some luck as a loose ball ricocheted to him which he comfortably sidefooted with his right foot into the bottom left hand corner from just inside the penalty area.
It was mostly one-way traffic in the first half, as Brittons Hill applied constant pressure on Dayrells Road but lacked that finishing touch.
Dayrells Road came close to scoring twice in the second half.
Free kicks, taken by Curtis Odle and Jason Parris, were brilliantly saved by reserve keeper Richard Ince, who looked quite comfortable on the night.
Richards scored the second goal after a nifty move between himself and strike partner Coppin.
He played the ball to Coppin’s feet, who returned the favour with a defence splitting one-touch pass to release Richards one-on-one with the goalkeeper racing off his line. (REG)
