Councils a worry for CDD workers

THERE ARE CONCERNS the Community Development Department could eventually be phased out in favour of Constituency Councils.
And workers facing imminent transfer from the department to the councils have asked representatives of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) to intervene on their behalf to have their position clarified before agreeing to the move.
A representative delegation from the Community Development Department held an emergency meeting with the NUPW at the Union’s Dalkeith Road headquarters yesterday morning to outline their concerns.
Afterwards, a spokesperson for the workers told the MIDWEEK NATION: “The grievance is lack of information to the staff. We are not saying we don’t want to go to the Constituency Councils. The problem is that we have no information in order to make a decision.
