Research ‘a must’

USING?ROW?COVERS?instead of greenhouses has been improving crop yields significantly, but farmers have been cautioned to research this method carefully before trying it.
This advice was given to farmers at Brereton, St Philip last Friday by Deputy Chief Agricultural Officer Dr Denis Blackman.
“Very often, people get into new projects and try to adopt new methods of doing things without doing the research,” he noted. “Do the research. There are farmers in Barbados who have tried to implement greenhouse technology without a great deal of success and at high cost.
That is because they did not study the technology they were using.”
