THE MYSTERY SURROUNDING some of Barbados’ Olympic hopefuls should be solved this weekend as selectors get a chance to see what kind of shape they are in, when the Barbados Olympians Classic is held at the National Stadium.
The precursor to the 2012 National Championships will start at 2 p.m. today and at 4 p.m. tomorrow, and admission is free.
Beijing 2008 sprinter and reigning 200 metres national champion Jade Bailey is expected to compete in both the 100 and 200 metres, while former CARIFTA Games senior boys’ 100 metres champion Shekeim Greaves should also do both sprints.
Bailey has not run at home for the season, while Greaves was hit by various injuries since his win in St Lucia in 2009. Bailey will need to hit “A” times of 11.19 and 23.10 seconds for the 100 and 200 metres, respectively, while Greaves will be chasing times of 10.18 and 20.55.
