All set for heritage day

Barbados WILL officially join the list of elite countries with UNESCO World Heritage Properties today.
The inscription ceremony for Historic Bridgetown And Its Garrison takes place at the Garrison Savannah from 4:30 p.m. and Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley has appealed to Barbadians to support the event.
    “I want all Barbadians to come out to the inscription ceremony which is so important that no one should miss it. . .,” he said. “We are a small country but, of course, we are being recognized because of the true outstanding universal significance of our Historic Bridgetown And Its Garrison.
    “This designation is a point to further market our country and it is important for heritage tourism because persons will become curious enough to want to visit Barbados.”
